What Causes Weight Gain?
One question we often ask ourselves is, “What causes weight gain?” The answer is always the same. It depends.
Causes may be genetic or physical. If your mother has this problem and you are genetically predisposed to the condition, it is not your fault. You are genetically programmed to gain weight when you eat.
The best way to prevent gaining more than you actually need is to not feed off what you can’t handle. If you have a dog that barks all the time, when you take it for a walk, you may do whatever you feel like. It is not wise to get up from the sidewalk, jump in the car and drive two miles to go play with it.
When you are on the way to taking your dog for a walk, turn on the radio. While you are on the radio, listen to a pleasant song. If the song starts to get grating, play it in another room. Listen to a calm lullaby to ease you into a relaxing state.
Once you enter into a calm state, you will be more at peace and enjoying the music you are listening to. We usually begin the song by adding in the word “Relax”. “Relax” is also a physical command that many times causes the muscles to relax. While we tend to think that this type of “relaxation” leads to an easy jog, it actually causes the muscles to tighten and do not allow the soul to ease itself into a comfortable sleep.
Relaxing and singing can be an activity that is really good for your soul. We do not all know what causes weight gain, but our little instincts are telling us. Most of us have been raised to believe that we must go outside and exercise to lose weight. That is not true.
The main causes of weight gain are stress, cravings and simple overeating. If your emotional state is not helping your soul and you are constantly “playing the blame game” when you overeat, it is because you are mentally and emotionally connected to food.
People that put on weight gain often place the blame on others when they feel guilty for something they did not do. Everyone does the things that make them overeat. Some of them will tell you they were drinking too much coffee before they came up with the idea to start an exercise program.
Other great reasons to exercise is that it helps you release toxins that are stored in your system, helps to keep your heart healthy and you help maintain your body’s natural balance. For those that do not believe there is any connection between the mind and the body, maybe they should consider that the mind controls the heart rate, the digestion of food and the metabolism of the cells.
To slow the process of weight gain is not about slowing down or eliminating the appetite, but is about changing the way the subconscious mind thinks. As long as you continue to live with the effects of what you eat and the damage that can be done to your body through overeating, you will always struggle with weight gain.
Once you realize that there is no end to this endless loop, you will be happier because you will be able to choose and control your actions. You will be able to stay away from foods that cause your body to crave.
It may take time and patience to overcome the cause of weight gain, but if you find that you are not able to reach a state of meditation, then you may want to seek the help of a professional dietician. Having someone guide you through a diet that will cause you to lose weight will help you with this cycle and help you get to the healthiest you.
